“The Gathering 2013” is a Government-led initiative which aims to deliver an additional 325,000 overseas visitors to Ireland which will generate an extra €170m in revenue and create up to 3,000 new jobs across every county in Ireland
Shannon Town Council, in support of the Government initiative, has established The Gathering Shannon community fund to provide support to local and community Gathering activities and projects which will bring international visitors to Shannon
Fund amounts will be directly related to the number of overseas visitors that will be delivered and will be decided by the Shannon Town Council against the criteria set out below. The total fund is limited to €2,000. There is no guarantee of funding for any submission
Applications are invited from groups or organizations who are organizing Gathering Shannon activities in 2013. To be eligible for funding the submission must:
Gathering events/projects can include: school reunions, sports clubs hosting overseas teams, music, cultural or business Gatherings involving overseas visitors. The key criterion is the ability of the proposed Gathering to attract overseas visitors to the locality
The following items and expenses are excluded from the fund:
Successful applicants will receive grant payment after the Gathering has taken place. Drawdown of the grant will be subject to submission of a Gathering Report, evidence that the event has taken place, receipts for the full costs and details of overseas attendees and their place of origin. Details of all conditions and requirements will be included in the Fund offer letter from Shannon Town Council
Completed applications should be submitted to:The Town Clerk, Shannon Town Council, Civic Offices, Shannon to be received by 28th March 2013 at 4:00 p.m
