Editorial policy

Shannon.ie publishes two kinds of material: archived articles preserved for continuity, and new evergreen guides that expand the same topics without inventing news events.

Archived posts remain at their original URLs with their original wording, cleaned only of navigation bars and advertisement blocks. Dates, bylines, and context stay intact. If a 2019 piece describes a consultation that has since closed, the text is not rewritten to pretend otherwise.

New guides cover council services, application processes, facility directories, and policy explainers. They are researched against current Clare County Council documentation, statutory instruments, and publicly available records. No interviews are fabricated. No "experts say" appears without a named, verifiable source.

We do not chase breaking news or publish speculative forecasts. Shannon.ie is a reference layer, not a newsroom. When council policy changes, we update the relevant guide and note the revision date at the foot of the page.

Clarity comes first. Acronyms are spelled out on first use. Forms and contact details are linked directly. Jargon is translated into kitchen-table English wherever possible.

We do not accept payment for editorial placement. Guides are written in response to search demand, reader questions, and gaps in existing public documentation. Advertising, if present, is labelled and does not influence article content.

Corrections are handled transparently. If you spot an error, email editorial@shannon.ie with the URL and the proposed fix. Material corrections are noted on the article when substantial.

Shannon.ie prioritises usefulness and topical consistency over traffic tricks. Titles promise what the text delivers. Paragraphs serve the reader's question, not a word count.
